Tennessee YRs Trek to Little Rock for YRNF Board Meeting

by Drew Daniel | 11/15/05

Several Tennessee Young Republicans drove to Little Rock on Friday afternoon to attend the final YRNF board meeting of 2005. Drew Daniel, Don Johnson, and Darrin Kirkus made the trip. There were many exciting opportunities and events for the Little Rock board meeting. YRs were offered the opportunity to tour the Clinton Presidential Library (it actually did have some exciting points), a street by street historic tour of Little Rock (including Little Rock Central High School), and a reception with Asa Hutchinson on Friday night. We did get to go downtown later Friday night and hang out at the Flying Saucer in Little Rock.

On Saturday I attended a state chairmen’s association meeting; Darrin attended a club chairman’s association meeting; and Don attended a communications workshop. Both Don and I did a sample interview on camera, and I got on camera with my purple plaid shirt ( which they had a field day with). I attended my first official YRNF board meeting, which was exciting but very long due to an epic resolution introduced. The evening banquet with Governor Huckabee was awesome as he encouraged all YRs to “go home” and affect political change in their communities.

I, along with Don and Darrin, enjoyed meeting a lot of new people plus other YRs we knew before. i did enjoy meeting other state chairmen from across the country, and I look forward to working with them over the next two years.  I look forward to the next YR event in Washington, D.C. in April, YRLC.
